One week down, and all is well!

It’s been a long week—twelve-hour days, every day—but honestly, I’ve enjoyed every minute of it.

Just twenty minutes before we closed down tonight, two walk-ins arrived. One had called earlier asking for scrubs for her grandmother and some food. The other was experiencing homelessness and needed a hoodie to help keep her warm, along with some food to get her through the weekend. Without hesitation, the team sprang into action. At that moment, the system took a back seat—what mattered was helping people in need.

We gathered food for both women, found the scrubs for one, and located a warm hoodie and hat for the other. They were incredibly thankful—almost too humbled to accept what we gave them.

Something was in the air this week. I met several tall, kind, and gracious men—every one of them respectful, warm, and sincerely grateful. I shook hands with at least seven of them. I encouraged a couple to take flyers for the food distribution happening at House of Mercy on the 25th and promised I’d be there. I could see in their eyes that they’d show up.

There’s no way to truly describe what it feels like to see someone smile after you’ve helped them through a tough moment. Imagine not knowing where you'll sleep tonight, or what you’ll eat this weekend—and then receiving that support, unexpectedly.

It fills me with purpose to help people each day—whether I’m training staff on the new system or offering a helping hand to someone in need. I may go home tired after a long day, but I go home happy. 🤗
