A fun Comparison Approach

Using my iMac, I can display two images side-by-side for comparison. I started by taking a photo of my painting and enhancing it using the default Mac OS Photos tool. I carefully adjusted the exposure, brightness, contrast, highlights, shadows, black point, brilliance, saturation, vibrance, and cast to match the two images as closely as possible. While my actual painting doesn’t look quite as polished, this process helps me identify areas for improvement compared to Van Gogh's work.

One thing that really stands out is the Olive Trees—they need significant work, and I’m unsure how to approach it. Maybe this comparison will provide the insight I need. Perhaps toning down the brightness of the yellows with duller greens in the grass would help. The Olive Trees could use more Sap Green and swirling strokes to create movement. I might also add more white to the bushes on the far left, and a few selective highlights in the clouds for extra dynamism.

Painting the bottom right will be enjoyable, and incorporating the red flowers will really make everything "pop"!

Let's play something; that really cooks!
