An Andy Evansen study is in order.
I purchased two DVD videos created by Andy and his painting style. He usually paints a value study before he paints his final painting. This way he can see while he is painting the final painting where he should be painting and not get lost in the "detail" trap. Details should only painted in the final stage (darkest) so that the end result remains clean and lacking some detail. Let the viewer fill in the blanks. My biggest stumbling block currently.
In my latest effort, it is still "bogged" down with too much detail. But, I am getting there. You don't see a single blade of grass! Amazing! Stop it junior, or I will wrap your knuckles with a stick!
