It's always something around the house!

This week's project has been a real pain in the neck—literally!

I’m installing a new HVAC return vent in the ceiling of my bonus room over the garage. The current vent is down by the floor, which makes zero sense… Hot air rises, so all that heat accumulating near the ceiling has nowhere to escape during the summer. By relocating the vent to the ceiling, I’ll finally be able to pull that hot air out, allowing cooler air from the floor vents and downstairs stairwell to circulate properly. Sometimes, I swear, engineers miss the obvious!

Next week’s project: trimming back the side yard bushes while it’s still cool (and wasp-free). After that, I’ll be installing molding around the garage man-door to keep critters out. Then, I’ll reinforce the back deck for a future hot tub. Other projects on the horizon include setting up solar panels on the shed to power my backup batteries and finishing up the attic foil installation in the crawl space while the weather is still comfortable. Always something to do!

The return vent will be located 80" from the fan.

Up we go! I screwed the ladder into the wood and it's working great!
