Hunkering down before the storm.

What started as a forecast for 18 inches of snow in Williamsburg this week has fizzled to just 2.6 inches tonight, followed by 1.05 inches of rain, sleet, and freezing rain tomorrow. I'm torn—which is worse, 1.5 feet of snow or an ice storm? I survived one as a kid in Decatur, Illinois, on Good Friday weekend 1978 (I thought I was younger than 18 at the time, but a quick check confirmed it). Power was out for days, trees were snapped everywhere, and I vividly recall chipping ice off my 1969 Mustang—my first car.

Storm prep is dialed in—I've already quizzed AI on local must-dos and we're aligned. I also fired up a fresh crockpot of chicken stew for the week ahead. No golden potatoes on hand, so Bob's Red Mill flakes and a handful of almond flour stepped in perfectly.

Before cooking, I squeezed in a quick MSFS 2024 hop from KPHL to KDOV in the Vision Jet. Nailed the TOD this time by dialing in the ILS approach right in the flight planner—smooth vertical speed, spot-on alignment, and a textbook runway touchdown.

Next week: painting time. I've toured the house, listed every renovation task, and will soon update my tracking spreadsheet for me and the GC. Once refreshed, AI will crunch a ballpark cost—I'm eyeing $200-300K. The list is massive, and I haven't even factored in a whole-house generator or solar panels yet.
