I have been doubting my painting abilities.

Well no more... It dawned on me this morning why I have been failing. Look at the two photos below. The first image is of my Van Gogh real-life oil painting on the right (36" x 29"), and a copy of that original Van Gogh painting printed on 17" x 22" paper, using my Canon Pro-1000 printer. Look at how small the print job on the left is compared to the life-sized painting on the right. 17" x 22" is considered good sized too, but it looks silly next to the real painting. Now look at the second image below. I took one of my smallest oil-painting brushes and compared it to the actual painted canvas that I painted. That is a 3/16" round-flat paint brush. That brush is less than a quarter of an inch in width... Even using that small of a brush, it is still very hard to paint those small details of a painting that is 36" x 29" big! No wonder I have been struggling! The Masters always painted using large canvases. And the reason is: It is so much easier to paint in large format! Having to control "tiny" brushes on "tiny" canvases is very hard to do. Frak-it! I am going to start painting only in large formats going forward. One life, and one chance to get it right. No wonder the Masters painted large paintings! It is so much easier painting using large brushes that match real-life sizes! I wish someone had taught me this years ago!

Van Gigh versus typical small painting sizes
17" x 22", versus: 36" x 29"

This brush is less than 1/4" in size... It is "huge" compared to the small details of this large-format painting.

If you have read this, so far... Soon, I will be making a post of an idea of how you can improve your paintings. It costs a lot of money to do this new technique. I will be the "guinea-pig of the Internet" to try this new approach. This new technique I will be trying has never been done as far as I can tell. Details soon!
